Official Centennial Fiesta Poster: "Four Nations, One Spirit" (24x36)
Local Santa Barbara artist, Holli Harmon, captures the essence of Santa Barbara's rich cultural tapestry in this breathtaking painting titled "Four Nations, One Spirit,". Reflecting El Presidente Brian Schwabecher’s theme for the 100-year Anniversary of Fiesta, this artwork celebrates the diverse heritage that has shaped Santa Barbara's history.
Central to the composition is the majestic Spirit of Fiesta, reminiscent of goddesses from art history, emerging from light and fire. Adorned with flowers representing each nation—carnation for Spain, Dahlia for Mexico, red Rose for America, and Matillija poppy for the Chumash—the Spirit of Fiesta embodies the collective heritage and aspirations of Santa Barbara.
At the forefront, four nations dance beneath the guiding presence of the Spirit of Fiesta, embodying the Chumash, Spanish, Mexican, and American cultures. Two female dancers, representing the Chumash and American nations, stand prominently, flanked by a Spanish Flamenco dancer and a Mexican Mariachi trumpet player, symbolizing the cultural vibrancy of Southern California.
The scenic backdrop features the Santa Ynez Mountain range against a luminous sky, evoking the timeless beauty of Santa Barbara. The iconic Santa Barbara Mission and palm trees adorn the horizon, while the night sky holds symbolic elements of the past and future, including the Big Dipper representing our Chumash ancestors and a rocket launch signifying our present and future aspirations.
Join us in celebrating our shared history and future aspirations at the 2024 Centennial Fiesta, where "Four Nations, One Spirit" unites us in joyous celebration and community spirit. Viva la Fiesta and Viva El Centenario!
